Rockwell Automation added two processors to fill out the L7X series of ControlLogix processors.
A part number 1756-L72 processor with 4MB of memory and a 1756-L74 with 16 MB of memory are now available. The L72 processor will make it less of a price jump to move to the newer more powerful processor series from the L6X line. The L7X processors are roughly the same or only 10% higher list price than the comparable L6X processors. I wrote about some concerns with price differences in the past.
The L7X processors give substantial increases in performance and offer a host of additional features. A couple that I am especially excited about are the increase in the number of CIP connections it can handle from 250 to 500 and the USB port for program upload/download and backplane browsing.
