Enthusiasm is contagious but so is complacency

I think that “It will work itself out” is the worst comment in the world especially when it comes to business. By saying “It will work itself out” you are consciously deciding to do nothing. I can’t think of any situations that are important enough for me to spend time thinking about and are best dealt with by choosing to not make a decision about them. I may choose to do nothing because my energy is best spent elsewhere. I may elect to take action later because I have more pressing matters. But if I decide that something will change because I leave it alone, I am just being complacent. Complacency is especially dangerous in business because it is contagious. If you are self-satisfied with the current situation. Smug. Then the people you work with will soon see no need to change either. After all it’s good enough. Right?
